Biography

Hi! I’m Yan (Quinne) Lin (林妍), currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Science, advised by Prof. Chris Oates and Prof. Stephen McGough. My Ph.D. is fully funded by a five-year Postgraduate Research Studentship, which covers full international tuition fees and tax-free living UKRI stipend, and an integrated PGTA position(formal staff position with paid leave and pension benefits) that is co-terminous with my PhD studies.

My research interests include Large Language Models, with a particular focus on uncertainty quantification, memory-efficient training, inference acceleration, and sparse attention mechanisms, Agents and RAG with an emphasis on the financial and healthcare domains.

I completed both my bachelor degree in Finance and Economics across Mainland China and Taiwan. After my undergraduate studies, I took a career break to gain practical industry experience at China Construction Bank and Essence Securities. Then I made a career transition into computing, earning a Master’s degree in Data Science (78%) at Durham University. In my free time, I’m also an avid player of Honor of Kings.
